A Yorkshire health and safety training specialist has announced a new qualification, which is targeted at the oil and gas industry.

Hull's Wise Global Training will launch the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety, and has opened a new training site within Humberside Airport, reports the Yorkshire Post.

The accreditation could enhance employers' knowledge of warning signs and the firm is planning to tailor the course to suit the wind turbine sector, among other options.

Speaking to the newspaper, Peter Donoghue, managing director of Wise Global Training, said: "The other opportunities we are looking at include driver training as a possible diversification. We also have some very big enquiries in the health sector that we are looking at."

Last month, Welsh college Ystrad Mynach was awarded in the Welsh assembly government's Corporate Health standard scheme.

It collected a bronze prize in the programme, which recognises the college's attitude to health and safety.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801275302-ADNFCR
