There was another reminder about the importance of safety signs last week.

Workers Memorial Day took place on April 28th to remember people who tragically passed away in accidents at work and inform individuals about the importance of adhering to safety standards.

Roger Bibbings, occupational safety adviser at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, said: "The number of fatal accidents at work has reduced significantly, but many thousands of people - estimated conservatively at 20,000 - die early every year due to the long-term effects of occupational injury or disease."

Mr Bibbings also noted that millions of working days are lost annually as a result of work-related injury and ill-health, with 23.4 million people being unable to work due to these conditions in 2009 and 2010.

His comments come after the Manly Dauly reported that safety signs have been put up around schools in Manly to remind motorists to drive carefully.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800516718-ADNFCR
