Warwickshire speed safety stickers are 'amazing' success

24th August 2010 | Warning Signs

Councils and other organisations will be interested to learn about the merits of using safety stickers after a bin safety stickers scheme urging motorists to curb their speed has been acclaimed as making significant progress in the battle against dangerous driving.

According to the Cotswold Journal, 1,600 requests have been made for Warwickshire County Council's safety stickers since the project was launched in June. Placed on residents' bins, the stickers contain a speed warning message to passing drivers.

Chris Fossey, road safety officer for the council, told the newspaper: "Demand for the stickers has been high and many local groups have also taken an interest in promoting the scheme at village and town fetes and local area forums."

The council now hopes more residents will sign up to the scheme.

This month safety stickers were also used to inform young people in Somerset about good cycling practice, the Somerset County Gazette reported.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800037077-ADNFCR
