Warning signs to alert motorists
4th January 2010 | Warning Signs
Innovative new warning signs will help to avert collisions in Scotland when they are launched later this month.
Currently being erected on the A83 between Glasgow and Kintyre at the Rest and Be Thankful spot, the warning signs will inform drivers about landslides, as there have been two in as many years, the Scotsman reported.
The news was welcomed by Neil Greig, policy and research director of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), who said that the signs will hopefully avoid any casualties on the road in the coming years as result of landslides.
He told the newspaper: "The IAM is also pleased to see the extra investment in prevention and reconstruction measures which will help to keep this crucial artery open."
Meanwhile, precautionary measures such as warning signs can be a major factor in avoiding workplace accidents in 2010, according to David Snowball, Health and Safety Executive regional director in West Yorkshire.
