Stoke refurbishment contractor R&S Tonks has picked up the Mitchells & Butlers Retail annual health and safety award.

The honour recognises outstanding performance when it comes to measures such as site management, working at height, good housekeeping and documentation, reports the Sentinel.

Managing director Robert Tonks told the news provider: "Site health and safety is Mitchells & Butlers' number one priority, and our workforce is dedicated to achieving the highest possible standards wherever we work, irrespective of the size of the project."

Mr Tonks described the achievement as an "important landmark" for the company, which was presented the honour after beating competition from other contractors.

Awards can help to boost the reputation of businesses and The Institution of Safety and Health (IOSH) recently invited companies to enter projects for the Railway Group Award 2013 for Fatigue Management.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801572777-ADNFCR
