The installation of new signs in Old Coulsdon has been delayed amid worries over health and safety costs.

The signage is aimed to welcome visitors the village, but the four-figure cost required to erect them has meant that they are to be stored in a garage for the time being, reports the Coulsdon and Purley Advertiser.

Old Coulsdon resident Sally Ann Voak told the news provider: "The signs have been planned for many years and are the culmination of a lot of hard work. It seems a huge shame to have spent money making them and then not be able to put them up."

Ms Ann Voak explained that she hopes for the signs to be installed by the end of the Jubilee year.

Eastchurch Primary School in Sheerness is also waiting for new signage to be installed, with the Sheerness Times Guardian reporting that Kent Highways promised in February that an interactive installation would be erected by March.

This has not yet materialised and locals are yet to see the new safety signage.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801360040-ADNFCR
