The Safety and Health Practitioner IOSH (Institution of Safety and Health) Awards ceremony has taken place, honouring a number of British companies.

The sixth annual event took place at London's Park Lane Hilton hotel, where the achiever of the year accolade went to Helen Kettle of Merseytravel and Crossrail collected the transport and logistics gong.

Others winners included Tube Lines and the Tristar Transport Company, which were honoured in the training and campaign categories respectively.

Another firm that has received recognition in the field recently is gas analysis manufacturer Analox, which won the health and safety accolade at the Best Factory Awards 2012.

HSE chair Judith Hackitt said: “The SHP IOSH Awards really are a great event - a chance to celebrate the important work that all of you do."

Professor Sir Anthony Newman Taylor won the IOSH lifetime achievement award for his efforts relating to the causes of lung disease.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801473366-ADNFCR
