Shepley Engineers has been recognised for its health and safety efforts.

The Cumbrian based company has been awarded the Order of Distinction honour from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), which celebrates 16 years of effective safety performance, reports the North-West Evening Mail.

Shepley Group’s managing director, Paul Scott, told the news provider: "We have worked hard to improve health and safety related communications across our businesses involving engagement at all levels."

Mr Scott added that, while its initiatives are proving effective, the company remains alert to complacency and the welfare of all its staff remains at the top of the agenda.

It is vital for businesses to have such a proactive attitude, or they could leave workers open to significant risks.

Sarah Daniels, chartered practitioner at the RedCat Partnership, stressed that many companies are unsure about their required health and safety duties because guidance is often unclear.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801457082-ADNFCR
