Safety signs will protect workers

11th November 2009 | Health and Safety Signs

Road workers are to be protected by a series of safety signs, which one expert said need to be heeded by motorists as repairs are carried out.

John Sheerin, project manager for the Highways Agency, said that the signs will go up as work is carried out on the Whitemare Pool junction on the A194 from Monday November 16th to Saturday December 12th.

"We are carrying out the majority of work at night in order to minimise the disruption to drivers and advanced warning signs will be put up at the junction in order to inform drivers of the upcoming closures," he said.

The manager added that the maintenance is taking place at a very important junction and advised all road users to take extra care when going past the work areas.

In other safety sign news, the Highways Agency in the West Midlands advised motorists to heed warnings put down ahead of resurfacing work which is taking place on the A38 near Lichfield.
