Safety event to highlight fire sign importance

29th January 2010 | Health and Safety Signs

An upcoming event organised by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) will highlight the importance of precautions such as fire signs.

The National Safety Symposium takes place from September 5th to 7th at the Nottingham Belfry and will feature a number of industry experts delivering speeches about how to protect workers.

It will specifically target organisations in the public, healthcare, education and environmental and waste management sectors, with speakers including Yvonne Liverton, health and safety advisor at Buckingham Palace, who will be sharing the benefits of joining the IOSH as a student and the importance of using safety precautions such as fire safety signs.

"While the event is traditionally associated with local authorities and public service bodies, it's aimed at anyone with responsibility for managing or organising health and safety in the workplace," IOSH said.

Meanwhile, the Safety & Health Expo 2010, taking place at the Birmingham NEC from May 11th to 13th, will also issue firms with tips on how to protect workers, such as using health and safety signs.
