Safety event to be held for farmers
17th November 2009 | Health and Safety Signs
Farmers will be taught the importance of safety signs and reducing the risk of injury at a seminar next month. The Health and Safety Executive is running the Farm Safety Health Awareness event on November 24th, which will educate farmers on how they can prevent death, injury or illness. This event is a response to the 1,500 UK farmers which are seriously injured each year, which Ian Weekes, health and safety awareness officer, said is concerning. He added: "In addition to the invaluable practical advice on offer, farmers will also be able to quiz our experts on their legal responsibilities and to compare experiences with their peers." Two half-day sessions will take place at the Hollowford Centre, Castleton, Hope Valley, run by qualified instructors with farming experience. Earlier this month a safety event was held for builders, construction workers and contractors in Scotland, which highlighted the need for safety signs.
