The Martin Wilson School in Shrewsbury has been given a new award, classifying it as a "Safer School".

The primary school has taken part in the Safer Schools scheme, where it has worked in association with Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police, according to Shropshire Live.

Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski appeared in a presentation assembly to give the school the honour.

"I was delighted to be asked to publicly recognise the Martin Wilson School for their hard work in ensuring the safety and security of pupils and staff, as well as visitors," Mr Kawczynski told the news provider.

He went on to say that the school's "considered" approach is commended, adding that it is a "shining example of excellence".

Recently, Northern Rail was also lauded for its health and safety measures, with the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reporting that the organisation won the Transport, Storage and Distribution Industry Sector honour for the fourth year in a row at the Occupational Health and Safety Awards.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801392099-ADNFCR
