Safer Aberdeen app collects national honour

The Safer Aberdeen app has won a national honour for helping residents stay safe.
It won the Innovative Media Campaign prize at the National Safer Communities Awards. The software features a wide range of safety tips and advice, along with information on how to gain help and advice when required.
Safer Aberdeen is a council-led project centred on crime prevention, with a promotional video detailing the app available on the organisation's social media pages.
Head of housing and community safety Donald Urquhart said: "The Safer Aberdeen team is delighted to have won the Innovative Media Campaign Award, which recognises the efforts which have been put into finding an innovative and effective way of connecting with people and helping them to stay safe particularly when out in the city centre at night."
Mr Urquhart noted that the group has gained really positive feedback relating to the app, with promising messages coming from young and senior individuals.
