The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has awarded gold, silver and bronze accolades at the annual Butler Awards.

These recognise excellence and achievement of organisations within the Safety Groups UK movement, which is made up of around 70 local groups, consisting of health and safety professionals who give up their free time to promote and share information.

Roger Bibbings, occupational safety adviser for RoSPA and secretary of Safety Groups UK, said: "These awards rightfully recognise the achievements of many hard-working people who give up their time free-of-charge to make a difference to health and safety at companies in their area, particularly small firms."

Mr Bibbings went on to say that judges were impressed with the "tireless efforts" of these safety groups.

In recent weeks, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service was given the Diamond accolade from RoSPA after reducing the number of injuries to its firefighters and other staff.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801530408-ADNFCR
