The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has given out a number of tips to help people be safe in the water over this bank holiday weekend,

Warm weather is expected, triggering worries that the number of accidental drownings could increase, especially at a time when pupils are away from school.

With this in mind, RoSPA is advising families to be extra vigilant around areas such as rivers, lakes, lochs and reservoirs.

Dave Walker, RoSPA’s leisure safety manager, said: “When the weather hots up, many people especially teenagers, are tempted to go swimming in rivers, lakes and other inland waters, but they need to be aware that these have many unseen hazards.

“Water can be a lot colder than you are expecting and there may be strong currents and underwater debris.”

Lorien Engineering Solutions was recently honoured by RoSPA, as it picked up a Gold award from the organisation, along with its seventh Order of Distinction honour.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801581162-ADNFCR
