The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) Health and Safety awards scheme has been confirmed as a finalist in two categories of the UK Event Awards 2011, after honouring business' safety signage for a number of years.

It is the largest and longest-running occupational safety awards programme in Britain, and appears in the Business to Business or Leisure/Consumer: Best Awards Scheme shortlist as well as the Best Cause Related/Charity Event category.

Julia Rolinson, event manager at RoSPA, said: "We know the RoSPA awards are already held in very high esteem but these nominations are a massive boost for our small team which works tirelessly from one year to the next."

It comes after the Chesterfield Post revealed that a new safety award is being offered to Derbyshire schools that show a concerted commitment to health and safety in their local community. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800725658-ADNFCR
