Businesses in northern Scotland have been invited to take part in a seminar hosted by the Scottish Occupational Road Safety Alliance (ScORSA).

Entitled the Driving Risks at Work seminars, the events are suitable for businesses or organisations that are searching for free advice with regard to managing occupational road risk and will run on May 22nd, 23rd and 24th in Wick, Inverness and Lerwick respectively.

Kathleen Braidwood, road safety officer at RoSPA Scotland, which is one of the partners involved in ScORSA, said: "A third of all road crashes involve someone who is driving for work purposes, so it makes good business sense to manage occupational road risk."

Ms Braidwood continued by saying that she looks forward to welcoming as many firms as possible to the seminars.

The importance of high health and safety standards in Scotland was recently outlined by the Scottish government's public health minister Michael Matheson.

Mr Matheson told those attending the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health's West of Scotland Branch event that a good link needs to be made between health and safety and financial stability.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801348655-ADNFCR
