Health and safety concerns have been raised regarding the fitting of gas equipment in Oxted.

Pete Watts, a local resident, has expressed his discontent at the move, explaining to the Surrey Mirror that homeowners were not consulted prior to the installation of the appliances.

Mr Watts is also worried at the lack of safety signage surrounding the equipment.

"Our biggest concern is that there are no health and safety signs around it. There are now live gas mains in the box. There are health and safety signs on other such equipment in Oxted," he noted.

The resident told the news provider that he will do "everything in his power" to assist in the removal or re-sitting of the installation.

The potentially dangerous nature of gas equipment was highlighted by the BBC last month, when the news provider reported that plans for a new velodrome in Derby could be rejected by the Health and Safety Executive.

It is worried that gas storage facilities near the proposed site could be hazardous.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801311489-ADNFCR
