Warning signs will be put in place to let drivers know of the dangers of their vehicles being overweight.

The Burton Mail reported that there are safety concerns over junction three of the A50 in South Derbyshire, which is close to Swarkestone Bridge.

Built in the 13th century, the structure crosses the River Trent and runs for just under one mile.

A report from the county council's traffic and safety team has led to the signage being put in place, which details the weight restrictions.

The Department for Transport has given the local authority the go-ahead to put up the notifications to help prevent lorry drivers ignoring current guidelines.

Steps have been taken by Derbyshire Police in the past to monitor the situation, with penalty notices being issued to motorists who ignored the rules, the newspaper reports.

A report will also be filed next week which covers the approval of the warning signs from Derbyshire County Council and the Department for Transport.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801337991-ADNFCR
