Northumbria Healthcare wins honour at Patient Safety Awards

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has won an honour at the Patient Safety Awards 2013.
The News Guardian has reported that the organisation collected the Patient Safety in Acute Care Award at the event, which is the first of its type in the country and has decreased potential harm among patients.
Dr Dan Higham, consultant physician who has led the project, told the news provider that he was delighted to be honoured on a national stage for the approach.
“The award is testament to the commitment and dedication of the team who have worked so hard over the last three years to improve care, reduce harm and deliver real benefits to our patients,” Dr Higham told the news provider.
He added that the work forms just one part of a range of initiatives to boost patient safety.
Companies that collect safety awards could see their reputations improve significantly within their industry, making them a valuable asset for businesses when it comes to seeking more customers.
