Northern Rail has picked up two safety awards, which recognise its efforts when it comes to preventing accidents.

The firm collected the Transport, Storage and Distribution Industry Sector award for the fourth year in succession, while it also won the Workforce Involvement in Safety and Health Trophy for the second time, reports the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

The Occupational Health and Safety Awards is the largest and longest-running scheme of its kind in Britain.

Speaking to the news provider, Gary Stewart, safety and assurance director for Northern Rail, said: "To win this award for the fourth year running is a real privilege and stands testament to our commitment to health and safety for our customers and employees."

Health and safety is of paramount importance to train companies across the UK and these latest honours will help to improve Northern Rail's profile further, while acting as motivation for the company's workers.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801382382-ADNFCR
