New signs will be put up in Wellingborough in order to welcome visitors to the town.
The modern versions will replace the current offering and will be placed on London Road and Northampton Road among others.
Wellingborough is a market town just 11 miles from Northampton and is situated on the north side of the River Nene.
Councillor Graham Lawman, chairman of the authority's development committee, told the Northampton Evening Telegraph that the signs will help to give off a good impression of Wellingborough.
"Attractive and well-maintained signs that clearly state the borough and town boundaries can help with that. We have a lot of exciting plans and high aspirations for Wellingborough and we need to promote ourselves better," he added.
A sense of pride will also be gained from the new signs, building on work done to reduce litter and anti-social behaviour, according to councillor Lawman, allowing residents to feel proud of where they live.
