A new safety sign has been introduced in Derby in a bid to improve the safety of drivers.

Littleover Neighbourhood Board has paid for the work, which has taken place at the Chain Lane and Uttoxeter Road junction, after encouragement from residents, reports the Derby Telegraph.

A "no right turn" sign has been installed at the junction, after the local Safer Neighbourhoods team carried out an enforcement exercise.

Councillor Eric Ashburner, chairman of Littleover Neighbourhood Board, told the newspaper: "The Littleover Neighbourhood Board installed the new 'no right turn' sign after receiving concerns regarding safety from residents and the police."

Mr Ashburner went on to say that action will continue to be taken, alongside further targeted patrols in the coming months.

Recently, it was confirmed that safety signage will be introduced to both ends of a tidal causeway in Northumberland in an effort to reduce the number of stranded motorists in the area.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801424493-ADNFCR
