MP takes road signs campaign to transport secretary

Julian Smith, the MP for Skipton and Ripon, has taken his campaign for new signs to the secretary of state for transport, whiich may convince other organisations to assess their warning signs.

Mr Smith has met Justine Greening at Westminster, where he stressed the need for brown signs to Masham to be reintroduced on the upgraded A1 (M). His efforts have also received the support of businesses, shops and residents in the town.

Speaking on the matter, Mr Smith said: "I had a very productive meeting with the new transport secretary at Westminster.

"She assured me that the Brown Signs Review is well underway and she was very sympathetic to the issue that I described in Masham."

The MP underlined that he will continue to press ministers in an effort to place Masham back on the map.

Elsewhere, the Mineral Product Association's health and safety conference and awards recently praised safety measures in the industry.

Overall, 126 entries from 28 companies appeared at the awards, confirming this year's event as the biggest ever.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801228020-ADNFCR
