The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Ireland branch has announced the winner of its person of the year award, which recognises strong effort in areas such as safety signage.

Ramond Byrne collected the honour in Dublin, after making massive contributions in order to prevent workplace injury and health. The award was given to him by Richard Burton, the minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation.

Mr Byrne said: "It's a great honour to know that the many members of IOSH believe that you have made a difference to an area that is so important for the 1.8 million people at work in Ireland."

He went on to say that he is happy to be able to play a role in efforts to prevent workplace injuries.

News of this award comes after the British Safety Council launched a new website.

It is hoped that the online presence will boost the health and safety charity's interaction with its members.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800783876-ADNFCR
