The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have joined forces to host the Innovation in Safety - Small Business Award for a second year, which could prompt companies to fit new safety signs.

This accolade honours people whose initiatives are decreasing incidents of injury and ill-health for firms while saving money. It is based on IOSH's Life Savings scheme, which highlights how good health and safety measures can boost the bottom line as well as save lives.

IOSH president Steve Granger said: "One of our big aims is to help bosses and policy makers understand not just the moral, but the financial benefits of health and safety."

Mr Granger asserted that the award is the ideal platform to reward businesses with the most effective health and safety standards.

This week, the Fire Industry Association (FIA) announced that it will hold a seminar in London next month as part of a workplace management event.

FIA chief executive Graham Ellicott will present at the Fire Safety Order - Building on Five Years of Experience seminar, which is to be based in Olympia.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800736572-ADNFCR
