Ice hazard signs installed in Kilburn

Warning signs have been installed in Kilburn in order to notify people of the dangers of snow and ice.

The current freezing weather led to hazardous driving conditions for motorists on Ryknield Road in Kilburn earlier this week, with risks being increased by overflowing water from a blocked drain, reports Ripley and Heanor News.

This caused a blanket of ice to form on the road, promoting water company Severn Trent to attend the incident, unblock the drain and erect warning signs.

Speaking to the newspaper, local resident Geoffrey Lane said: "There’s been a couple of cars that have come down here sideways – the ice seems to be right on the brow of the hill."

However, it is not only drivers that should exercise caution in the current climate, as pavements remain slippery for pedestrians, meaning that it is advisable for people to wear shoes with sufficient grip and be careful to walk at a slow pace.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801288258-ADNFCR
