The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced new guidance to help larger organisations and businesses understand how to protect staff.

Entitled Managing for Health and Safety, the guidance is now available online and helps business leaders, owners, directors, trustees and line-managers. It is divided into four sections.

Andrew Cottam, HSE’s lead author of ‘Managing for Health and Safety’, said: “Following the guidance is not compulsory, unless specifically stated, and businesses are free to take other action, but if they do follow the guidance they will normally be doing enough to comply with the law.

“Health and safety inspectors seek to secure compliance with the law and may refer to this guidance.”

The guidance makes up part of a suite of assistance for businesses of all types and sizes and is accompanied with the Health and Safety Made Simple and Safety Toolbox initiatives.

These are primarily aimed at supporting the requirements of small and medium-sized enterprises.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801620272-ADNFCR
