Health and Safety regulations revised

The Workplace Regulations Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) has been revised and re-published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in order to better protect workers.

The revised ACOP makes the legal obligations of employers, building owners, landlords and managing agents easier to understand, and therefore easier to meet. It is hoped that this will reduce the risks of over compliance.

The Workplace Regulations have been in place since 1992, and apply to every workplace except for ships, construction sites and mines.

They protect workers by making it a legal requirement for employers to ensure a safe working environment, achieved through following certain practices such as displaying appropriate safety signage.

Chris Rowe, spokesman for the HSE, said: “The revised ACOP has not only been updated, it will help employers understand the regulatory requirements on key issues such as temperature, cleanliness, workstations and seating, toilets and washing facilities.”ADNFCR-2754-ID-801662173-ADNFCR
