Grimsby street to be transformed with new houses

One of the most deprived areas of Grimsby is set to be transformed as construction work begins on new homes.

The £3 million project will bring social housing to the site through investment by Longhurst & Havelok Group, with residents being given the chance to name the development.

It is anticipated that developer Linden Homes will have the 35 properties completed by the end of next year, and there is further room for another 38 buildings.

"Some of the homes had been rented by housing associations, some were privately-rented and had a high turnover of tenants and there were a lot of behaviour issues. This new development has designed that out and will provide green spaces and parking for residents," Debbie Fagan, head of strategic housing at North East Lincolnshire Council, told the Grimsby Telegraph.

A further 150 properties could also be built on a five-hectare plot at the town's Humberston Road, however there has been some criticism of the plans with builder John Tucker hitting back at residents in the local press.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801480355-ADNFCR
