Businesses should consider the health and safety risks of their industry, a specialist has suggested.

It is beneficial for firms to understand their processes, take into mind everything they do, and clearly take note of what the risks are and how they can be mitigated, a spokesperson from Bibby Consulting and Support has stated.

Such work may also cause businesses to implement new safety signage.

Michael Slade, managing director at Bibby Consulting and Support, said: "We've done a lot of work thinking through the way legislation is accouched and I think we believe that first of all, the rules are there for a reason."

Mr Slade explained that the rules are typically in place because of incidents that have occurred in the past which are worth trying to prevent.

His comments follow advice from the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) Judith Hackitt, who has recommended that companies should develop adequate health and safety solutions at the start of any process.

Doing this will enable them to save time and money, Ms Hackitt asserted.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801297965-ADNFCR
