Fire Door Safety Week offers key advice

18th September 2013 | Health and Safety Signs

Fire Door Safety Week is now underway across the nation in a bid to teach households about how to keep safe from flames.

Housing associations and social housing groups nationwide are delivering strong fire safety messages to tenants and property maintenance teams throughout the week, teaching people about how they can reduce their chances of injury, reports 24Dash.

The project was masterminded by those behind the British Woodworking Federation's (BWF) Certifire Scheme, with local housing associations carrying out work in their own communities to protect the wellbeing of residents.

Peter Gannaway, chairman of the SHFSG, told the news provider: "We fully support Fire Door Safety Week as we are aware that inadequately specified and poorly fitted and maintained fire doors cost lives. Our members recognise the importance of correctly specified fire doors.

He warned that simple things such as wedges or removed closers can lead to disastrous repercussions for residents across the country.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801638938-ADNFCR
