A new event has been scheduled in Mid Tyrone in an effort to improve health and safety for farmers in the area.

According to Farming Life, the Ulster Farmers' Union (UFU) Mid Tyrone Group is inviting all UFU members and their friends and families to attend the Health and Safety Roadshow event on March 12th.

Speaking to the news provider, UFU president Harry Sinclair said: "Farming currently ranks as one of the most hazardous working sectors with the four main causes of death being machinery related incidents, livestock accidents, falls and falling objects and drowning or gassing."

Mr Sinclair went on to say the show has been organised to urge farmers to take safety more seriously.

The UFU is not alone in its efforts to improve health and safety for farmers, as the Rural Industries section of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Ireland Branch is set to assess such worries in a meeting on March 6th. ADNFCR-2754-ID-801550381-ADNFCR
