Entries in for RoSPA safety awards

31st December 2009 | Health and Safety Signs

Nominations have closed for a national award to recognise firms with a good health and safety performance, such as a commitment to using warning signs.

The 2010 Occupational Health & Safety Awards, held by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), aims to reward companies which have shown dedication to creating safe working conditions for their employees.

Firms can enter in three categories in the competition - the achievement awards, the industry sector awards and the specialist awards - and need to provide evidence of a good health and safety management system.

The Health and Safety Executive is backing the awards, which have been running for more than 50 years.

A statement from the watchdog commented: "The RoSPA Awards promote effective health and safety management as a vital part of good business and they encourage the sharing of best practice."

Past winners of the accolade include Balfour Beatty Construction Scottish & Southern, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Ruwais Fertilizer Industries and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
