The health and safety measures in place at a Doncaster housing organisation were recently recognised by a leading body.

St Leger Homes was handed the highest possible rating from the British Safety Council, reports the Star, which may lead businesses to investigate how they can improve their operations by installing measures such as safety signs.

Chief executive Susan Jordan told the newspaper: "This is fantastic news. My health and safety staff, and staff across the organisation, have worked hard to achieve this accreditation. I want to say well done to them all."

Mr Jordan also noted that the achievement gives tenants the peace of mind when staff from St Leger Homes carry out maintenance work on their property.

Balfour Beatty Construction Scottish and Southern Limited is another company that has been honoured for its health and safety efforts, with the firm being presented with the Sir George Earle trophy at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Occupational Health and Safety Awards.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800561319-ADNFCR
