Cornwall councillor calls for sat nav signs in Highway Code

Cornwall councillor Armand Toms has called for satellite navigation signs to be included in the Highway Code.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Toms urged for the law to be changed so that motorists are more aware of areas where their sat-nav will not be able to function.

“If you had a sign that said, 'don't use this route' it would help. But the Highway Code doesn't have that at the moment and we would like the government to take notice and put in some commonsense and say 'switch your sat-nav off,” he told the news provider.

Mr Toms explained that the rule is about “putting some reason” back into driving, adding that the quickest route is not always the safest.

Road users need to ensure they are aware of the many signs seen on the nation’s roads, and a quick revision of the Highway Code could prove to be useful. ADNFCR-2754-ID-801632336-ADNFCR
