A college and a council have been nominated for workplace of the year at the St John Ambulance First Aid Workplace Awards, which suggests the recognition that can come the way of premises with an efficient approach to warning signs.

Both South Derbyshire District Council and Burton and South Derbyshire College have been shortlisted. They will find out if they have been successful later this month at the awards ceremony in London, reports the Burton Mail.

Richard Shouls, health and safety officer at the council, said: "South Derbyshire District Council is very pleased to be considered as a finalist in the St John Ambulance First Aid Workplace Awards."

Mr Shouls added that the authority has a good record for protecting the public's wellbeing.

Last month, health and safety professionals in the Isle of Man were given the chance to take part in a national diploma that is focused on occupational safety and health.

The qualification is being run by the Department of Economic Development. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800785216-ADNFCR
