Pupils in Chalford are aiming to keep themselves safe by designing warning signs to be placed around schools in the area.

The Bussage, Chalford Hill and Christchurch schools are working with Gloucestershire Police, Stroud District Council and Chalford Parish Council to develop the notices, reports the Stroud News and Journal.

Speaking to the news provider, PC Emma Beard said: "Firstly I would like to congratulate the students on their winning designs, they look fantastic and help get the message of road safety out to the public.

"Responsible driving is important everywhere, but especially around schools. The new signs will help spread the message to all."

The pupils who made the winning signs collected Amazon vouchers.

Warning signs are extremely important for motorists across the UK, who must ensure they are fully aware of the highway code and learn the meanings of all the notices seen on the country's roads.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801547773-ADNFCR
