Carnoustie councillor Helen Oswald has written to Angus Council to request if commemorative street signs can be installed among the area's road safety signage.

Ms Oswald wants the special street signs to honour two of the town's Victoria Cross winners, Lance Corporal Charles Jarvis and Petty Officer George Samson, reports the Guide Gazette.

She has suggested that a community grant could be used to fund the signs if no funding is available in the roads department.

Ms Oswald said that commemorative plaques are present in the town, but are not situated in the streets that are named after the men, Jarvis Place and Samson Place.

This news comes after the Ripon Gazette reported that more temporary road signs will be introduced throughout Masham.

The signage will be installed along the A1 between junction 50 with the A61 and the B6267 at Sinderby.

Due to the move, it is believed that road users will be able to find the area's businesses more easily.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800782520-ADNFCR
