The British Safety Council has launched its new manifesto for workplace health and safety.

It is hoped that the move will reduce the number of injuries suffered in jobs as, in 2010/11, there were 26,000 major injuries reported and 26.4 million working days lost as a result of illness or injury.

The council's Working Well manifesto hopes to lower these figures, with Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council, saying: "Our goal is to bring together influential players, including politicians and opinion formers, to help focus on what we need to do make that vision a reality."

Mr Botha explained that the manifesto will outline the actions that businesses and others can take to reduce injuries at work.

In recent weeks, the British Safety Council introduced an e-learning version of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health's Working Safely course.

It is designed to offer information relating to the essentials of health and safety.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801349846-ADNFCR
