Asda has established a health and safety manual entitled The Asda Way of Working, which may lead to safety signage being reviewed across its supply chain.

The supermarket has also created a retail health and safety forum alongside other supermarket chains in order to discuss the safest methods of working, according to LogisticsManager.com.

In its manual, Asda has underlined the value of the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA).

SEMA's spokesman Mike Tucker told the website: "To ensure that risks are minimised and work-related accidents in the warehousing and storage sector can be prevented, we cannot emphasise the importance of understanding and implementing safety standards too highly."

Mr Tucker also noted that it is "immensely reassuring" that Asda's warehouse infrastructure is being run to current standards.

It comes after the Grantham Journal revealed that 88 pupils from Langar Primary School visited Lafarge Cement's plant in the Vale of Belvor, where they took part in activities to mark the site's health and safety month in June.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800621447-ADNFCR
