ABI publishes street party planning guide

With the Olympics, Euro 2012 and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee coming up this summer, many people will look to plan a street part in order to celebrate.

Fortunately, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has published a guide to organising such an event to ensure that it passes off as peacefully as possible.

The use of fire safety signs, warning placards and other visual displays will hopefully help ensure that health and safety is a top priority.

Nick Starling, director of general insurance at the ABI, said: "With communities across the country planning thousands of events this year, a few common sense precautions will help ensure that events are fun and safe."

Among the things to think about are where people can take shelter if the weather takes a turn for the worse and if the environment is suitable for the event in the first place.

Fire safety is a major consideration and the ABI warned planners that they should know how they will get people to a safe place if disaster strikes.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801336214-ADNFCR
