A range of safety features are to be incorporated into the A8 road in Northern Ireland, including new warning signs.

To improve safety, bollards and hatching will be installed, while road markings and signs will also be renewed on the road, which covers between Redlands and Larne town centre, reports 4NI.co.uk.

Ulster Unionist Roy Beggs Jnr said: "I welcome this as a short-term improvement which will at least provide some separation and therefore added safety for pedestrians walking to and from Redlands on the Harbour Highway."

Mr Beggs Jnr noted that a safe and separate pedestrian walkway is necessary for hthe longer term, as well as a bicycle track that runs alongside the lagoon.

In Scotland, safety signs have been introduced at a school in Dundee, as representatives at the school attempt to enforce stringent health and safety guidelines in order to protect pupils.  ADNFCR-2754-ID-800700631-ADNFCR
