Door signs have improved the layout of a new, and much needed, Post Office in Harpenden.

The postal service is part of a new Co-op store in Southdown, harpendenpeople.co.uk reports.

The news provider reported that the "spruced up" signage made the counter look "a lot fresher".

It has been two years since residents have been able to use a post office, since the old one closed down. Since then residents have campaigned over the closure, receiving support from Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden.

In Spring the hard work paid off when it was announced that the new post office would be incorporated into the Co-op supermarket.

"So Southdown residents now have their Post Office in time for the Christmas rush of letters and parcels. And with a cold snap predicted to hit the UK this week, locals will be thankful that their hike to Station Road Post Office is now a thing of the past," the news provider said.

Recently, signage was put up in preparation for the opening of a new Morrisons store in Tyneside, expected to create 250 jobs.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800253328-ADNFCR
