Two shops from Weston's Sovereign Shopping Centre have collected health and safety awards.

Beauty store Savers took victory in the best large store category, while independent retailer Good Day News collected the best small store accolade, reports the Weston Mercury.

Speaking to the news provider, centre manager Nick Cooke said: "High standards of safety and environmental compliance makes good business sense and ensures that the centre and shop units are both safe environments in which to work and for customers to shop.

"Each year the standards arise and once again this year it has been difficult to choose the best stores within each category."

All shops at the centre are examined on a quarterly basis, and the best large and small stores are handed a certificate and cash prizes.

Such health and safety accolades can make a big difference to a company's reputation and help them to stand out in front of their rivals.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801548655-ADNFCR
