The college Ystrad Mynach has been presented with an award in the Welsh assembly government's Corporate Health Standard scheme, commending its efficient use of measures such as safety signage.

It has picked up a bronze award in the programme, which recognises the college's commitment to ensuring that its staff are operating in healthy workplaces throughout the Caerphilly county borough.

Public Health Wales has delivered the scheme and, in order to gain the accreditation, the college was subjected to an intensive assessment of its health and safety policies.

College principal Bryn Davies said: "The health of our workforce is extremely important to us. Having a healthy and happy workforce is vital for a thriving educational establishment, and has obvious benefits for our students."

This award comes after the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) Road Safety Education, Training and Publicity (ETP) Evaluation Project collected a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801242850-ADNFCR
