Warning signs fitted on Epsom road

Vehicle-activated warning signs have been fitted on a road in Epsom, amid concerns over the health and safety of motorcyclists.

The installations flash warnings to motorists who are caught exceeding 45mph on Horton Lane, while a community speed watch scheme has been introduced, which will see volunteers clock and report speeding vehicles, reports YourLocalGuardian.co.uk.

However, some residents have called out for speed cameras to be fitted on the road.

Discussing this, Duncan Knox, road safety team manager at Surrey County Council, said: "Cameras are installed based on how many collisions there have been on the road. We have not got the resources to put cameras on every road where there is speeding."

New signs may also be brought to the Somerset area of Pretty Oak, after a representative from Somerset County Council noted that the signage near the A30 between Pretty Oak and Barleymows Restaurant are "in need of attention."ADNFCR-2754-ID-801333564-ADNFCR
