New warning signs have been put up on the A85 in Perthshire to warn speeding motorists that they need to slow down.

The displays are speed-activated and are being aimed at bike riders who find the scenic road a popular route.

It was reported that once a rider triggers a loop on the road, it then activates a sign further down the A85 which flashes up an image of a biker taking a corner, with advice to 'slow down'.

George Henry, a spokesperson for Scotland's Strategic Road Safety Initiative, said that this route had been chosen after analysing the number of accidents involving motorcyclists in recent history.

"These signs will compliment the measures of our partner organisations to ensure that motorcyclists are kept as safe as can be," he noted.

Tayside is a popular destination for motorcyclists, particularly during the summer months, and riders are encouraged to have their bike serviced before taking it on a road trip, while also ensuring that proper protective clothing is worn.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801322591-ADNFCR
