Veolia Water Outsourcing has collected a leading health and safety award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in a development that could encourage businesses to improve their safety signage.

The company handles Capital's Seafield sewage works and was handed the accolade as part of RoSPA's Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011, reports the Scotsman.

David Rawlins, RoSPA's awards manager, said: "RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention deserve recognition."

Veolia Water Outsourcing has displayed its commitment to continuous health and safety improvement, Mr Rawlins noted.

Commenting on the award Veolia Water's Robin Monk said that he is "proud" for the company to be recognised for its efforts.

Another company that has been honoured by RoSPA is City Link, which was handed a gold award for the third year in succession.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800623228-ADNFCR
