Vauxhall attempts to ensure safety during Euro 2012

Vauxhall has reacted to staff after they complained they could not watch Euro 2012 games due to health and safety worries.

The manufacturer sponsors the English team, with employees even starring in a TV advert alongside players such as Steven Gerrard, but the company would not allow production to be halted for England's opener against France. reports Employee Benefits.

Vauxhall believes that the games could distract those working on the production lines, which led to complaints from workers.

However, after a poll at its Luton and Ellesmere Port sites, the company discovered that workers did not want to alter their shifts in order to see the matches.

"Vauxhall’s first priority is employees’ safety when working on the production line, as well as building Vauxhall vehicles that meet our customers' expectations of high quality and delivery standards," said the company.

Many workers across the country will be missing the national team's games at the tournament, with the team now progressing into the quarter-finals.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801388815-ADNFCR
